Dog Walking

Private Walks

Exercise is such an integral part of your dogs health and wellbeing.  Not only is it healthy for your pet, but also for their two-legged counterparts. Walking your dog can be an excellent source of exercise especially when it requires no real equipment.  Dogs should have anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours of activity a day.  A matter of inconvenience should not be a deterrent from this fundamental activity.  Trizane Dog Services is here to help!

Walks are catered specifically to the needs of your dog.  Whether you have a rambunctious puppy who loves exploring, a young high-energy dog who needs a fast-paced brisk walk or a senior pal who enjoys a nice stroll, Trizane Dog Services accommodates.
That’s what’s unique about private walks rather than group settings.  Your dog is able to get the appropriate exercise level according to their specific needs.
Reasons why exercise is an essential part of your dog’s wellbeing: helps fight anxiety, slows the aging process, keeps joints healthy, creates bonds, gives your dog something to look forward to, stimulates the mind, teaches social skills and promotes good manners.

Some dogs suffer from anxiety when their owners have gone to work. Lack of exercise can sometimes lead to attention-seeking and destructive behaviour.  Increasing their fitness routine can help to alleviate some of that anxiety and destructive behaviour as walking provides mental stimulation and tires your pet making it easier for them to be left on their own while you’re at work. Keeping the mind stimulated is another great way to challenge your dog and tire them out mentally. By presenting these interactions they are given the opportunity to learn and adjust to new situations.

Exercising your dog has the same benefits as it does for humans helping to slow the aging process, keeps the mind fit, the joints in motion and slows age related conditions that can arise from sedentary lifestyles.  By walking, jogging, playing your dog’s joints are getting their full range of motion which helps to loosen up stiffness and keep them mobile.

Walking and playing gives your dog something to do, to look forward to.  Ever hear a dog barking as you near the dog park or their favourite place.  They too get excited and look forward to these special events.

Not only is exercise a great way to keep your dog healthy, but also balanced as it teaches them social skills by interacting with their environments and people.  Exercise is also a great way to teach and reinforce good behaviours.

Drop-in Visits

Drop in visits are 15 minutes in length and are great for cats, puppies and senior dogs who need a quick break or feeding during the day.  It’s enough time for a quick potty break or litter cleaning, love and affection and a meal if needed.

My typical drop-in routine for a puppy is to quickly let them out to relieve themselves then provide them with one on one attention.  Working with puppies, they tend to get very excited and can take some time to settle down, by letting them out to potty first they don’t have setbacks with their house training and gives enough time afterwards for some play time, have a drink of water and have one last potty break before I leave.  Senior dogs are normally housebroken but still enjoy the company of people.  The plan for them would be the same, but may include more cuddles as they don’t need time to calm down as much as a young energetic puppy.

For my kitty clients, I will clean their litter box, feed and top up their water, play some cat and mouse games and any other requests owners may have. Some cats are independent and self sufficient not always needing as much attention as their doggie counterparts.

FAQs

Yes, Trizane Dog Services is fully bonded and insured.  Our insurance policy is underwritten by ProFur.

Certified in Pet First Aid and CPR, trained in administering medication both orally and subcutaneously.  Positive Reinforcement – scientific and theory behind animal behaviour.

Punishment can often be non-effective and confusing for animals. Redirection and positive reinforcement are practices we use to address unruly behaviour.

In the event of an emergency every effort will be made to contact the owner.  If we are unsuccessful at our attempts we will transport the animal to the nearest veterinary clinic for treatment all the while still trying to make contact with the owner.

Communication is key between Trizane Dog Services and their clients. Who wouldn’t want to know what their pet is up to during the day?  Preferred method of communication is through text. You can expect a text message from Trizane Dog Services about your dog’s adventures that day, any pictures and abnormalities if any.

Dogs need exercise rain or shine and Trizane Dog Services is there to deliver.  If weather conditions are too extreme to continue a walk, walk durations may be shortened and indoor activities offered instead.  In any case, the client will be notified and the dog will still get to relieve themselves.

Walking is done on a private one-to-one setting in your neighbourhood.  We will venture out and walk different routes each time allowing for variety and new stimuli.

Trizane Dog Services preferred fixed length leashes which allows for optimal control and safety.  If the client is not equipped with one, Trizane Dog Services will provide one for that service.

Trizane Dog Services does not frequent dog parks nor will ever unleash your pet in an outdoor environment for their safety.

Currently Trizane Dog Services offers private walks with 1 dog or maximum 3 per household.

At the moment Trizane Dog Services does not offer group walks, but it may be a service available in the future. At that point, Clients who wish for their dogs to join group walks will need to be regular walking clients for a duration of one month prior to being paired with another dog.  This allows for proper assessment of temperament, personality and size to ensure an optimal walking experience for all dogs involved. Dogs will then be introduced slowly on neutral territory prior to the group walk (this could take a few times) with an assistant to ensure the meet and greet goes smoothly and all dogs are tolerant of each other.

Dogs are grouped with their own size for safety reasons. Smaller dogs walking among larger ones can become injured during the course of play. Our rule of thumb is 50%, we plan to walk dogs no more than 50% of your pets weight i.e. if your dog weighs 30lbs, we will not pair them with a dog larger than 60lbs.

Since our walks are one on one there is no need to worry and stress that your dog is not socialized or may not react to another dog favourably. During our walks should we encounter another dog we will work to positively reinforce good behaviour and re-direct where necessary.  We will not put either animal in danger.

Trial walks to assess if the dog and walker will be a good match can be arranged at a reduced rate.  Please contact Trizane Dog Services to discuss further.

All clients are required to sign a service agreement prior to commencing services.  References can be found under testimonials, additionally please reach out to Trizane Dog Services for a list of references.
